The invention provides a transverse guide (14, 29) of a saw blade (5, 27) for a machine tool, particularly for a hand-guided machine tool (1) in the form of a band saw or jigsaw (2), wherein the saw blade (5, 27) can be rotated about the longitudinal axis (9) thereof by way of said guide in the opposite direction to said forces as a function of transverse and/or torsional forces acting on the saw blade (5, 27).
